Welcome to The Language Works (TLW). This curriculum is designed for young learners. It provides a wide variety of activities for children learning English. There are six modules (units that interact): two at the beginner, two at the pre-intermediate and two at the intermediate level. Modules are designed for flexible use. Learner needs are the focus. There is no set sequence of files (across modules). Choose files according to student needs/desires...
Engaged students study the curriculum at home. They then bring their knowledge to their classes and ‘lead the way’ for their classmates. Student-to-student scaffolding emerges in succeeding lessons as the teacher encourages a progressive construction of knowledge. This curriculum strives for the ongoing development of learner skills.
Lessons can consist of files from different modules or may follow a sequential plan. You will find instructions for the lessons/activities in the Overview Files or on the Activity Pages (both below) as well as in the files themselves. Choose a 'file plan' or select activities at will. After you open a lesson file, you can use the arrows on your keyboard to move forward and back. Click the spacebar twice to repeat the audio. Have a good lesson! TLW |
